Motorcycle Mileage in Bangladesh: How to Compare and Improve Real km/L

Motorcycle Mileage in Bangladesh: How to Compare and Improve Real km/L - MotoBikeBD Blog

Mileage figures are useful for creating a shortlist, but they are not promises. A catalog value may be a manufacturer claim, an approximation, a test result under controlled conditions, or an owner-reported number. Dhaka congestion, passenger weight, tyre pressure, fuel, road surface, and riding style can produce a very different result.

Mileage-oriented comparison examples

The table reproduces each model's recorded mileage wording rather than converting every claim into a single supposedly comparable laboratory number. Open the motorcycle page to see its full specification and researched price status.

Calculate mileage correctly

Use the tank-to-tank method:

  1. Fill to a consistent level and reset the trip meter.
  2. Ride normally across a representative route.
  3. Refill to the same level.
  4. Divide kilometers traveled by liters added.
  5. Repeat for several tanks and calculate an average.

For example, 320 km divided by 6.4 liters equals 50 km/L. One partial refill or one unusually clear highway ride is not a dependable ownership average.

Major factors that change fuel economy

Traffic and speed

Repeated acceleration and long idle periods consume fuel without adding much distance. Very high speed also increases aerodynamic demand. Smooth, legal, steady riding is usually more efficient than aggressive acceleration.

Tyres

Use the manufacturer's cold-pressure recommendation for the actual load. Underinflation increases rolling resistance; excessive pressure can reduce grip and comfort. Check for damage and uneven wear.

Maintenance

Follow the owner's manual for engine oil, air filter, spark plug, valve checks, chain adjustment, and fuel-system service. A dragging brake, dirty filter, poor chain condition, or incorrect oil can affect efficiency and safety.

Load and accessories

A passenger, luggage, large wind-catching accessories, and repeated short journeys can lower mileage. Compare results under similar conditions.

Do not chase mileage unsafely

Do not coast with the engine off, use dangerously high tyre pressure, ride too slowly for surrounding traffic, or modify the fuel system without qualified guidance. Fuel savings never justify losing braking, lighting, stability, or predictable engine response.

Buying with mileage in mind

Ask for service costs and parts prices alongside the mileage claim. A motorcycle with slightly lower fuel economy but reliable local service and affordable consumables may cost less overall. Compare candidates through MotoBikeBD, then track your own result after proper break-in and servicing.
